Animal Abuser National Register

It's way over due for big changes in animal rights laws. Persons found guilty of animal cruelty MUST receive much tougher punishment on a national level. No more will an animal be considered "property". Animals are living, breathing, feeling, creatures of God. Whether they belong to someone or are a stray, animals have rights. If tougher penalties are established, then it will help reduce the amount of animal abuse in the United States of America.

These people are very sick individuals. Rehabilitation is possible, but only if they receive professional treatment. Starting with much more prison time and psychiatric treatment while serving time. Fines and short term incarceration does no one any good. These offenders have be proven to repeat animal cruelty over and over. Much like child abusers.

I propose an "National Animal Abuser Registry". This would help ensure that these people can never own an animal again. Nor live in an environment that has animals. Not have a job with animals. This would show up on background checks for jobs, for pet adoption, for animal purchase. What a powerful tool this would be. Again, with the goal of reducing animal cruelty on a national level. To jeopardize one's job opportunities of any kind is a strong motivator for anyone. An employer has access to any arrest record, but a pet shop or animal shelter may not have the funds to do that. A free, national database of convicted animal abusers can save countless animals from a life of neglect, torture and even death.

Property is an inanimate object. Animals are NOT inanimate. It's time animal cruelty laws were changed and brought up to date in these modern times. Animals do not have a voice and depend on humans to speak on their behalf. Thousands of animals are abused every year just here in the USA. Whether from malicious intent or neglect, too many animals are needlessly suffering. ALL ANIMALS must have this protection. Not just domestic house pets, but to include horses, cattle and livestock too.

Please seriously consider this proposal of a National Animal Abuser Register for all convicted felons of animal cruelty and abuse. It WILL make a difference. God Bless.
