If this doesn't spur CBP into seeking a different type of pay for our agents than the "discretionary" AUO I don't know what will. I have no doubt that most people outside of the Border Patrol including Congress have any real understand of AUO pay and the devastating affect that cutting it off will have upon the Border Patrol. It's not typical overtime, it's basically 25% of our normal salary. Give me my furlough days without pay like everyone else and I'll gladly bear my part of the burden, but cutting our pay by 40%?....this is unfathomable!

Border Patrol Agents and their families should not be punished and the security of the U.S. borders should not be compromised as a result of Customs and Border Protection?s malfeasance in the budget development and execution processes. As stated in House Report 112-492 and Senate Report 112-169 explanatory statements, ?CBP failed to adequately estimate its salary needs for its operational workforce resulting in an estimated $214,000,000 shortage in fiscal year 2013.? Also stated in explanatory statements, ?The bill provides $315,000,000 in appropriated funds to rectify CBP?s salary shortfall, created by the flawed budget request that incorrectly assumed CBP access to fee revenues and demonstrated inexcusably poor budget development by CBP.? The men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol should not have to bear the burden of CBP?s Acting Commissioner Aguilar and Chief Operating Officer Winkowski?s malicious plundering of the Border Patrol?s budget to atone for their negligence. -thanks R.B., beautifully written.

Perhaps we should consider cutting the salaries of the people that make these crazy decisions. I know it my little hometown, the mayor and his trustees worked for free for their first terms to get things back in order. Think about that!

It greatly upsets me that we are putting our national borders and therefore our nation at risk, while sending our money outside of the country. It no longer seems our nation's tax dollars are being used to protect our nation! This needs to STOP!

Why are federal officer, mainly us Border Patrol Agents, blamed for our country's deficit? What is the pay cut of Congress and the President and all politicians in the US? 0% is my guess. So as yourself, why are we cutting the pay of the men and women who are the first line of defense to our country? Does anyone with the power to fix this have any common sense?

People that protect our borders, our national security, and our way of life should never face pay cuts.
