An artistic design on your skin has no effect on how well or poorly you do your job.... some of the biggest shitbags I've ever seen had ZERO tattoos, and they continue to pollute the Corps. I would think that the United States government would look at individual performance, rather than individual artistic preference.REPORT COMMENTS

I think the new policy is wrong I have tattoos on my wrist representing my nieces and nephews one on my throat that says mom and on the sides of my hands saying love and hate I know the policy about ink are strict but I didn't know having them would take my dreams of being a u.s marine like my father and grandfather I have no criminal record none of my tattoos are racial or discriminating I don't understand how this could prevent me from serving in the country I love my hopes and dreams have been shattered does anyone have any advice for me?REPORT COMMENTS

I've been denied entry into the Marine Corps because I have a tattoo across my collar. should be ok, right? no, unfortunately, they had to test its visibility in Charlie blouse WITHOUT the white undershirt. I know I would most definitely wear the white undershirt. and ALWAYS wear an undershirt. however my word and motivation to serve my country under the finest title ever to be achieved is not good enough. though I am glad that I have come across this petition.REPORT COMMENTS

My dream of serving our country just got crushed! Tattoos are visible on more then half of today's society. Rules like this are going to ruin the chance of creating exceptional and more than worthy soldiers.REPORT COMMENTS

I find the tattoo policy insulting. The infantry breeds a culture of warfighters who act according to the desires of the highest ranking members of the Marine Corps. These young men sacrifice their youth to become THE purpose of the Marine Corps, and this new standard is set into place? All of you knew full and well the damaging impact that this was going to end up having on our lives. I can understand regulating tattoos to what they convey, but eliminating the possibility for a Marine to continue bettering his or her life and working for the system that they love?! I keep hearing the "You joined the Corps; the Corps didn't join you" slogan being thrown around. When was the Corps selfish? When did it become a branch that casted aside the futures of countless Marines to please the world over semantics? This seems like more of an eristic attitude than one with a noble cause. Semper Fidelis?REPORT COMMENTS
