Please stop doing this. Base pay is the only thing that's taxable and didn't change. BAH changes.Jul 24th, 2016Someone from Fairfield, CA writes:
BAH and BAS are allowances not PAY! They are not added to taxable income. While we are in the subject- BAH and BAS should also not be included in calculations for paying childcare!REPORT COMMENTS

I am supporting this because it is unfair an unjust. BAH and BAS are non-taxable entitlements, that are utilized to offset the cost of living for the state in which the paying service membe currently resides.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a service member who does currently pay child support. My child support calculations was added during my divorce. And this is absolutely true. In Texas the mothers income was excluded and was primarily my obligation to support. Therefore she collects child support plus her income and in El Paso TX cost of living is low. The courts have continuously put the burden on military members due to the military obligations to move when needed else where. Since leaving my last duty station I lost about $200 in BAH but my child support remained the same. After paying child support, rent, utilities, car note, insurance and food for myself and familiy I'm left with lil to no money for myself. So why is it OK that financial burden is on the active member who was stripped of his parental rights due to me being military? So the spouse who does nothing to contribute is awarded?REPORT COMMENTS

It's ridiculous that the court system will count my BAH (government assistance) as income, but they won't count my ex-wife's food stamps, WIC, SNAP, and daycare assistance (government support) as income...you would think someone would have known that doesn't make sense and is contradictory.REPORT COMMENTS

I hope this gets changed because I am currently going through my divorce in Sumter, sc and the judge did a temporary ruling since I'm deployed for 6 months. So the ruling was sent down right before I left so that now I'm fighting to appeal the ruling. My ex now receives $925 for child support and $600 a month for alimony. I am giving this woman more than half my pay check while she sits at home doing nothing collecting a pay check from me. Like I said hopefully this passes because I feel like I'm defending a country that doesn't want to take care of its service members.REPORT COMMENTS

Calculating bah into child support puts a huge strain on military members and their family. It changes every time the military moves the military member causing them to have to go back to court to change it costing extra money to have to travel back to the state the support is based in and the cost of lawyers. It's a sin that these brave men and women sacrifice their lives for thief country and this country seems hell bent on making their lives so difficult.REPORT COMMENTS
