When I originally got hired, I drove 20 hours to be placed in a rural area full of poverty that is not easy for a family to live and thrive in. I have given my life to the border patrol along with my family and this is the way myself and all the other agents out there get treated. We are not asking or complaining about pay raises or more money. I am a 19 year member of the US Border Patrol. I simply want to be paid what I was promised when I was recruited over 20 years ago. I had no say in the pay reform that was recently passed that will dramatically affect my pay for the next decade until I retire. The pay reform faces in the face of all current pay standards and ignores the protections of the Fair Labor Standards Act which was passed by Congress some 40 years ago to protect the employees.
