The active duty plan is solely aimed at providing slots for the now "jobless" Kiowa pilots. The active army decided to scrap the Kiowa airframe, and is now trying to scrap decades of aviation experience within the NG in order to correct the void created by discontinuing the Kiowa airframe. The proposed cost savings of moving NG Apaches to the AD component is a complete farce. We must act to prevent this from occurring!

The only way the Army has used to sway congress is to lie and misrepresent the effectiveness and quality of guard Apache units. One example is the fact that there are Apache pilots from SC that are training active Army pilots how to land on the deck of a ship while underway. The SC Apache unit was the first Battalion sized unit in the Army (all components) to be deck landing qualified. I know the quality of this particular BN because I was a member for 5 years.

National Guard Personell are just as capable and professional as Active duty folks. This is nothing more than a power play from Washington.

We should be moving units to the national guard not the other way around if we want to save money.
