Please stop taking away opioids from responsible patients with severe chronic pain. Do you want to kill us all off? We can't live like this. We are suffering because other people have chosen to abuse opioids. We are innocent people who just happen to be unlucky enough to have to suffer with chronically painful legitamate medical conditions. Our doctors know that we are not abusing our medication. Many of us have been taking opioids for over fifteen years as prescribed safely without any overdoses. We follow all the rules and then our meds are cut by 2/3 so that we don't get adequate pain relief. One dose does not fit everyone. This is making us unable to function, take a shower, or have a life of any kind. We are suffering and no one cares. Please end this cruelty. After our meds were taken from us the overdoses quadrupled, so taking away our legitamate prescriptions has not helped anyway. This doesn't make sense. You don't take away the legitamate use of opioids because of the illegitimate use of opioids. The issue is is the treatment being used to treat a real painful medical problem and does it increase the patient's function and quality of life. With drug testing and pill counts and the registry, doctors can tell who is abusing their meds if any, so people need to be monitored. When monitored, these drugs can be used safely and are life saving for us. Any tool can either help or kill, it depends on how it is used. Until there are better alternatives, opioids are the only option for some patients. Just telling us to suck it up or go meditate is insulting and cruel. Someday you, or someone you love may have chronic pain, then you will be sorry.

. Right now going through withdrawal symptoms because of having to go see a doctor who has maybe spoke to me a dozen times in almost a year. He has cancelled my appointment three times in a month. My primary care physician sent me to pain management because of the DEA . He over books himself so you have to wait for an hour to see him sometimes it is longer than that. Right now because of some weather some patients cancelled and his nurse called me and told me it would not be worth seeing only a few patients. I asked her about being without my meds and she said you should have extra. I told her that I had extra until the month prior due to him rescheduling that appt.for a week out. She well there is nothing I can do for you. So I have to go through withdrawals and there is nothing I can do. If I complain about it then he can fire me from the practice and deny me my meds.

The doctor tried to prescribe me highly toxic highly disturbing psychological anti depressants instead of simple oxy for pain. I took one and thought this medicine should be limited to committed patients. Anti depressants are certainly worse than opiods for responsible mature persons. I refused to take more than one and currently am denied effective opiod pain medication even though I have qualifiable conditions. Does requesting 4 scripts of 30 oxy's a year make me an abuser? DEA should stay out of medicine because they're not doctors. Measured opiod has been a valid medicine for thousands of years. DEA is trying to create more customers for the private prison systems. Stop the tyranny!

This is wrong on so many levels to deny lifesaving pain medication to the disabled, our VETS, our senior citizens and people of all walks of life who suffer from DEBILITATING INCURABLE CONDITIONS!! I just came from my dr, who once again lowered my meds even more but happily injected my knees, very very painful injections that he coukd not numb the area first due to the severe burning it causes on my knees, knees thatbare stricken with RSD/CRPS, arthritis, . Do you have any idea how it feels to have a two inch needle jabbed into your knee, the medication oozing thruout your knee makingnit even more painful, I NOW CANNOT WALK! Everytime I try to apply pressure my knee is snapping, my right leg feels as if its being constricted, I CANNOT WALK!!! You want legitimate pain pts to endure every alternative therapy, regardless of the outcomes. I put myself thru living hell each month justnto get the very minimal pain medication that is no longer effective because I have to wait 8 f***ing hours to take one, By then the pain is crippling, im curled in a ball or vomiting from the pain. You corrupt lawmakers are inflicting severe pain onto innocent law abiding chronically ill citizens of this country!! You corrupt lawmakers are forcing pain pts to live a life of pure hell/torture! You corrupt lawmakers have the blood of every pain pt who took their life to escape the torture you have inflicted on them! I hope their spirits haunt you all until your time is up, and none of you will be greeted by pearly gates, you all belong in hell with the devil. How do any of you sleep at night knowing you have created a fictious opiod epidemic, knowing dam well that heroin and fake pills laced with fentanyl is whats raging hell on this country and NOT legally prescribed pain medication. Sure there are people who abuse their meds, a very small percent, and yet you corrupt lawmakers have the public believing that chronic intractable pain pts are addicts! How many in our government and/or thier loved ones require pain medication!?!? There is no way in hell that none of you do, many of you are up in age, with that comes the body breaking down. Do you think we are that niave to believe you all are in perfect health!? The thing is though, you all have your private drs and pharmacies in your back pockets, $$$$ . I am so disgusted in our government, it's no wonder this country is deatroyed, it's led by a bunch of hypocrits, dictators and murderers!

Please help! We are seriously good people not drug addicts. We suffer spinal cord diseases, injuries and surgeries gone bad. We suffer chronic pain 24/7. The new laws have made it extremely hard for people like us to get enough pain medication to truly get thru the day, week or month. We suffer some days with no medication because the dosage is not enough or insurance won't cover it because of the extra amount and drug stores won't fill because of the new DEA laws. You are causing good people to withdraw and STOP living. Because of the chronic pain good folks are not leaving their homes due to the pain we suffer. I have degenerative disc disease. My bones are crumbling away. I have had 2 major fusion surgeries on my spine. One in my whole cervical neck and one in my lower back fusions with screws and metal rods. Also I have had a complete Knee replacement. This has caused even more chronic pain. We need to STOP BEING TREATED LIKE DRUG ADDICTS! Pain medication like opiates, oxycodone and others are truly helpful in our quality of life. They truly help us get up and move around and live a good quality of life. Otherwise we stay home and feel like dying because the pain is so bad and we can't get our medication. Some folks just commit suicide because they can't get their pain meds and because Drs. just don't care or are afraid of the DEA reactions. We are the ones who truly need this medication and are suffering the most with these new laws. PLEASE HELP US CHANGE THE NEW LAWS BACK TO HELP CHRONIC PAIN SUFFERERS. I'm sure there is a way to diagnose just who we are. Look at my medical records. You would be in chronic pain too. THANK YOU//i wrote: i'm a sever chronic pain sufferer. i've suffered since a pre-teen. i went yrs and yrs, well over 10 just trying to ignore it eating ibuprfen and tyl to a point i got reflux and ulcers, i even went to dr and we tried muscle relaxants and antidepressants but had really bad side effects, and finally got so bad i couldn't get out of bed, take care of my kids or even work, not even small housework... i finally went back in and was given propox and vicodin, my first increase in pain meds was after quite a few yrs ( mainly changed because given less tyl version so took one instead of 2 pills per dose and given one extra dose a day added) and then not until my surgery with 3 moth hosp stay where i was put on fentynyl and oxycodone . i have fibromyalgia all over severley. without meds i can not get out of bed. i can not even be touched lightly as it feels as if i have been hit by a baseball bat! add to that i now have a tube feeding, i finally went to the emergency room after a month of literally NO sleep and inability to even take down water - i was so malnourished it required a feeding tube - add to that a 3 month hosp stay due to complications from the surgery... so now i have gastroporesis on top of everything else. which causes more pain in the form of someone twisting my intestines and crushing them - now i

As I lay in my bed not able to walk because of the pain I think I'm in a nightmare and can't wake up because as an American citizen I don't have rights anymore not even to be treated by a doctor. I'm losing my right to be free in America. Is this a nightmare? The government seems to be taking all of our rights away. What is going on with congress also you are there to stand up for us.

All patients on opoids who have chronic pain are not addicts. My doctor has given me the same medication for years. I signed an agreement I would only use her and one pharmacy. Since the law changed to where you had to pick up your prescription every month, my whole life revolves around being here on the date I get the Rx filled. I previously received 3 months since I see the Dr. every 3 months due to my laundry list of problems. The Dr. won't see new patients who must take opoids. I do believe my rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is being trampled upon and I am made to look like some drug seeking junkie. I am 63 and careful about my medication. I do not abuse them, they are well hidden from everyone so no one can steal them, and I follow directions.

Please stop criminalizing people with chronic pain. Let the medical professionals decide what level of medication is appropriate for their patients, without fear of reprisal from the D.E.A. Chronic pain steals lives..even worse that the burglar that breaks into a home and robs people of the meaningful things in their lives. We are law-biding citizens being denied the simplest things in life...all because of pain we cannot control, yet our "leaders" only see criminals on the street corners selling drugs. You are so misguided. We are Americans, and deserve to be able to live our lives without constant pain. The American citizen has been given Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness by our Constitution.\r\nThe CDC publishes that 500,000 deaths are attributed to Tobacco.\r\nThe CDC publishes that 90,000 deaths are attributed to Alcohol.\r\nBut 44 people a day or 16,060 people are overdosing on prescription opioids is an epidemic? But of course the government makes money on the first two. Chronic pain patients want only one one thing, quality of life. These people are dependent on these drugs to give them that quality. They don\'t absuse their medication. The end result of this new tyranny will result in a massive increase in illegal drugs, i.e., Heroin to sky rocket. Criminals or addicts will always find what they want, but the law abiding citizen will ultimately suffer.\r\nA person in chronic pain is afforded the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. In my opinion, the CDC is misguided and totally unaware of what life is like to suffer 24 hours a day with pain that is indescribable. Please, I beg you to show compassion to those of us that want nothing more than to take a walk, go out to dinner, go to the movies, cut the lawn. To have what you have; A normal life.

Chronic pain patients are dying committing suicide to relieve their pain because of no wrong doing or actions of their own they are wrongfully being punished for crimes they did not commit. They are being denied pain medications that have been prescribed legally by their pain management doctors that they signed contracts with to ensure continuity of care. But these contracts are not being honored and upheld. Patients are being weened down to doses not capable of providing any viable pain relief or in worse cases patients have been abandoned by their doctors completely. Patients left with no way to access necessary pain medications. All because abusers abuse heroin and street opioids the patients are suffering for it. In this country we are supposed to be free from discrimination free from torture and free from being punished for other peoples crimes. This needs to stop before one more patient dies from the effects of under treated or untreated pain. Before one more patient takes their own life to escape the torture of their pain. No one should find themselves in a place that their pain is so severe so under treated that suicide becomes the positive option to relieve it. Only about 2% of Chronic Pain Patients end up abusing their medications. Chronic pain patients don?t want to have to take these medications any more than a cancer patient wants chemotherapy. But they have no choice. Chronic Pain Patients are the ones who are the most affected by changes in prescribing guidelines, however they are not the ones abusing, selling, or trafficking these medications. By setting limits on the amount of opiates that can be prescribed, it takes the medications away from the patients that need them most. Chronic Pain Patients are two to three times more likely to commit suicide because of inadequate pain care. Are their lives less valuable than the life of an addict? A solution must be found that treats addiction while still ensuring proper and adequate care for Chronic Pain Patients. Our doctors and patients need to be making medical decisions for ourselves not politicians without medical training without any knowledge about the complexities of treating chronic pain patients that more often then not have mutiple diseases .Let doctors do the doctoring let law makers make laws but don't start a trend of mixing law with medicine because all it causes is suffering and death that don't deserve to be treated so poorly.

Narcotics work just fine for chronic pain. Have been a pharmacist for 32 years. The problem is doctors who do not manage patients appropriately. There are so many garbage studies out there. Each patient's pain is different. It should be treated that way. You do not know the effect of a drug treatment until it is tried. Narcotics have worked wonders for my chronic pain, yet all the VA cares about is compulsively denying narcotics to Veterans. They cite "evidence based studies". What exactly does this have to do with treating a patients individual pain situation? Another huge VHA problem. As a Veteran you do not have the ability to change pain providers. You are stuck with whoever you get.

Anyone who is in pain management can tell you, they are treated like criminals. Ppl with chronic pain are desperate to get & keep help. The Dr's are so regulated & watched by DEA they don't feel free to prescribe certain meds that would be very helpful, simply due to having their judgment questioned by the bureaucracy. Then the patients must submit to drug tests and getting clearance from pain management to see other doctors, and also to having their pharmacy records on the watch list. I had pancreatitis & at same time a ruptured disk in my neck. Besides living in agonizing pain, while I was in the hospital, I got a visit from the DEA or state equivalent. Imagine being deathly ill, and having the police scrutinizing your medical care!! I had received different pain meds, one for neck, the other for pancreatitis. My doctors were interviewed, I was interrogated in my hospital bed. As I was fighting for my life, it's a hell of a thing, that fighting for your life could get you arrested because that's what happens when the govt starts making health care decisions for its citizens. This is a serious problem. I understand we have rampant opioid abuse here, but it's WRONG to compromise & trample on the rights of people to adequate health care, ESPECIALLY where chronic pain is involved.

Chronic pain is an affliction caused by many different diseases but it fortunately can be treated, unfortunately the treatment is the use of opiates. Chronic pain sufferers rely on these treatments to survive daily life and have some sort of normality. Denial of our legally prescribed medications is out right Assault with intent to do bodily harm. As of this moment I feel that government officials and agencies should be held accountable for their crimes against the people who they are intentionally harming. It is our constitutional right to protect ourselves from people who are causing us harm. It is our constitutional right to have said people prosecuted in a court of law. It is also our constitutional right to seek damages for pain and suffering from those who have committed these crime against us. Why aren't we suing?
