I have several medical problems and marijuana helps...with so many of my issues...i recently went to the dr and tested postive .i was then told i would be given 30 days and if tested clean she would beable to give me something for stress, pain, nauisia, sleep,.so i have a choice..do i stop smoking or go and get 3 driffrent pills and become addicted to pills...i'm sorry that in that in this day and age Kentucky(congress) cant see that making MEDICAL MARJIUNA legel would help in so many ways.I have had this conversation with several people and they agree ..only problem is the fear of getting in trouble...well..I'm in "trouble " already...i have 2 weeks to get "clean"before i can get my other meds...(heart and blood pressure and thyroid)...Time is Ticking for me..REPORT COMMENTS

My neurologist wants to prescribe me marijuana for my spasms, but KY won't allow it. I'm a C-6,7 quadriplegic and don't want to take meds that will destroy my liver. I was prescribed maranol, but my co-pay was $360/mo. I have always been anti-drug, but marijuana does help in moderation when the spasms are really bad. It should be treated like alcohol and not drive, etc. while injesting it. I don't want to be 'high' though. I get injections into my spine every 6 months now, but have still had them bad enough to break my $5,000 wheelchair twice. I don't know what else to do. Mine and my doctors hands are tied.REPORT COMMENTS

Liberty: people deserve freedom to use marijuana. The first and most basic reason that marijuana should be legal is that there is no good reason for it not to be legal. Some people ask 'why should marijuana be legalized?" but we should ask "Why should marijuana be illegal?" From a philosophical point of view, individuals deserve the right to make choices for themselves. The government only has a right to limit those choices if the individual's actions endanger someone else. This does not apply to marijuana, since the individual who chooses to use marijuana does so according to his or her own free will. The government also may have a right to limit individual actions if the actions pose a significant threat to the individual. But this argument does not logically apply to marijuana because marijuana is far less dangerous than some drugs which are legal, such as alcohol and tobacco. SUMMARY: Individuals deserve the right to decide whether or not they should use marijuana. The government should not tell individuals what to do as long as they do not harm others. Cost: keeping marijuana illegal is expensive. The second important reason that marijuana should be legal is that it would save our government lots of money. In the United States, all levels of government (federal, state, and local authorities) participate in the "War on Drugs." We currently spend billions of dollars every year to chase peaceful people who happen to like to get high. These people get locked up in prison and the taxpayers have to foot the bill. We have to pay for food, housing, health care, attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses to lock these people up. This is extremely expensive! We could save billions of dollars every year as a nation if we stop wasting money locking people up for having marijuana. In addition, if marijuana were legal, the government would be able to collect taxes on it, and would have a lot more money to pay for effective drug education programs and other important causes. SUMMARY: We would have more money to spend on important problems if marijuana were legal. Failure: prohibition doesn't help. The third major reason that marijuana should be legal is because prohibition does not help the country in any way, and causes a lot of problems. There is no good evidence that prohibition decreases drug use, and there are several theories that suggest prohibition might actually increase drug use (i.e. the "forbidden fruit" effect, and easier accessibility for youth). One unintended effect of marijuana prohibition is that marijuana is very popular in American high schools. Why? Because it is available. You don't have to be 21 to buy marijuana -- marijuana dealers usually don't care how old you are as long as you have money. It is actually easier for many high school students to obtain marijuana than it is for them to obtain alcohol, because alcohol is legal and therefore regulated to keep it away from kids. If our goal is to reduce drug consuREPORT COMMENTS

WHY SHOULD CANNABIS BE LEGAL? Cannabis has been used as an agent for achieving euphoria since ancient times; it was described in a Chinese medical reference traditionally considered to date from 2737 B.C. Its use spread from China to India and then to North Africa then reached Europe at least as early as A.D. 500. Back then Cannabis wasn't considerd to be evil or a drug, so why is it today? Missinformed people, believe it or not dont understand what Marijuana is or how it work, But alot of americans know today the hardships that America is facing in tax revenue. Nerly 83 million Americans smoke weed in the U.S. every year illegally. In a recent survey confirmd if Marijuana was legalized and legitimized the tax revenue could be anywhere from 2.4 billion dollars a year to 6.2 billion in taxes could be collected through marijuana by marijuana being medicinilized possibly more. A largely missunderstood consept is marijuana is a gateway drug which means marijuana can lead to more hardcore drugs which is absolutely far from true. What these statistic show, but that is if it is coming from drug dealers your, more often than not you will be offerd diffrent cheaper but much worse and highly addictive drugs, some of the drugs leads to thousands of domestic violence reports every year, which end up costing us more tax revenue. the true hardcore facts are that marijuana isn't even a drug infact it is to some standerds the exact opposite of a real drug, real drugs have very negative reactions. Marijuana is absolutly not negative infact Marijuana is not even addictive unless you may consider T.V., Video Games, or food to be addictive it is not physically addictive you dont have to have it like some alchoholics may need their beer. you will not be throwing up over it if you dont have in fact you can stop using it any time just some people like the deep realaxing feeling of smoking a joint and many more people do than we may know of. So i come to you asking why is it illegal?REPORT COMMENTS
