The banks and insurance companies squandered millions of dollars, took taxpayer money, had no accountability, and gave themselves bonuses with no consequences. The auto industry has been faultering since 911 and the rising cost of living, especially fuels and the decline of our economic status. Hundreds of thousands of workers will be unemployed because of the blatent lack of real assistance to the car companies. The time frame in which the companies were pressured to respond, the lack of support from the president's auto team, and the immediacy of the consequences has devastated the industry in general and specifically the economy of the state of Michigan. If the auto industry fails, the level of unemployment will rise significantly... which will in turn cause a national and global economic downturn. No, President Obama didn't cause this economic mess, he inherited from GW. However, as a lifelong Democrat, I thought he would handle the automotive crisis with a more rational and humane response. I urge this administration, and the party to which I helped elect, to reconsider their support of Chrysler's massive nationwide closure of dealerships. -

...and add to this make Chrysler honor the checks that they bounced to consumers for their lemon law cars.REPORT COMMENTS

I just heard on the news that the union workers will receive very generous unemployment packages from Chrysler. All that they invested was a lunchbox and are part of the reason for this financial despair of the auto companies. The dealers have invested millions of dollars but have been sent into financial ruin by the classless way Chrysler ended their franchise. It's not right, it's not fair, it's un-AMERICAN.REPORT COMMENTS
