Closing all these dealerships will crush the consumer=no sales. Obama's plans to mandate 35mpg to meet his GREEN agenda, will crush the manufacturer. Bio-diesel is where it's at. You want clean burning autos people will buy, let real car people build real cars people will buy, and get the government out of it. Govt+union control of purse strings=disaster! Especially in smaller towns, the impact on the local economy is staggering. To close these dealerships nonsense and utter stupidity! Are folks that have bought cars from the home town dealer for decades going to drive 30 - 50 miles to the next closest dealer? HELL NO! Both are horrible ideas, triggered by the Federal Government's interest in pushing their agenda. You can't hide stupid.

An Incredible act of "highway robbery" by Chrysler and the Obama administration task force. They do not really care who and how they get hurt. As a Jeep dealer for 18 years we have been very effective by Chrysler's measurement in our market - like 280% and with good CSI. Yet as of last Thursday, we find ourselves with no chance of getting back any of our inventment in our business because of this decision. It really hurts even more when you realize that you did nothing to cause this banruptcy of Chrysler. The federal government is bailing our the big guy - isn't this backwards; the Republicans are supposed the bail out the big guys. Usually the Democrat party takes care of the "little man" on Main street. Not this time. It hurts even more when you realize that the federal government is stealing from us twice. The are closing down our Jeep store and then using our tax money to keep the Chrysler folks in business.

Hard times call for hard choices, not foolish ones. Our dealership has provided good service and a consistantly high level of customers satifaction for over 25 years. How can it be in the best interest of the new Chrysler to close the doors of our store and give our franchise to another dealership accross town who can't match us in either customer satisfaction or market performance?

The damage to our communities from the exit of so many dealers will be felt for decades unless something is done.

I don't have a Chrysler Franchise, we are GM, I didn't get a letter but what is being done is completely wrong, the Government gives billions of Tax Payer Dollars to keep Chrysler and GM going, then they turn thier back on the Dealers who pay for everything they get. Dealers are not the reason Chrysler or GM are in the finacial condition they are in. Most Dealers have managed their business better than the Factories. This is totally UNAMERICAN and goes against the very laws that have been put in place to protect us. President Obama should put a stop to this immediatly before hundreds of thousand more AMERICANS are forced out of their livelihoods.

As a GM dealer for the past 18 years who just got "the letter" I do not understand how telling your customers that you no longer want thier business is going to help the manufacturer sell enough products to make them profitable. It is totally absurd, and they are using thier current bad situation as an EXCUSE to dump dealers. They will not be profitable or prosperous with this business plan. I should have sold out three years ago!!

I am an employee of a rejected Jeep dealer. He has worked for 40 years to serve his community, and now his lifetime of work has been taken away with the stroke of a pen. 40 employees wonder how long before they are out of a job in this difficult economy.

What happened to true capitalism in this country, where a business shut down because it failed, not because politicians told them to? I thought this administration was going to stand with the dealers. What happened?

Did Chrysler mislead the bankruptcy court in it's recent filing for protection and reorganization? How is it that closing independent franchised dealers will provide a financial savings and efficiency as part of the Chrysler reorganization plan? Car dealers are not a cost center for the automaker. The fact is....car dealers contribute about 90% of Chrysler's annual revenue, provide a wide established distribution network for their vehicles and parts, and are ultimately responsible for customer care and satisfaction. You only need look as far as the Administration's Automotive Task Force to understand this madness. And look who the Task Force seeks advise from...Wall Street types! The same folks that help cause our overall current economic mess to begin with. You could have some fun and also do a great service by asking the Task Force how they can support and justify a business plan (Chrysler reorg.) that: *Hurts independent business people and will put 10's of 1000's out of work *Will reduce revenue *Does not reduce costs *Will negatively impact customers that Chrysler must retain in order to survive The fate of Chrysler dealers (and GM) should be in the hands of market forces and the auto consumer...not a Gov't. task force.
