I agree with stringent criteria but at the same time I urge not to cancel H4 EAD program. Its unfair to target one such program and a section of people and not others similar to it. Additionally, it should be understood that the H4 EAD program exist because of long wait times of EB2 and EB3 category for Indian and Chinese nationals. Fixing on those wait time should be a priority instead and until then this program should continue as it merely acts as a bridge for 'suffering' spouses who are educated and experienced but cannot work. If such educated and experienced candidates can find work, pay taxes, spend and contribute towards US economy, it should be encouraged not discouraged. If h4 ead is cancelled, it breaks immigration system further than it fixes. -

Just because I am on H4, I do not think it is fair to discriminate against people like me who are qualified and have worked hard to get here. I wanted to mention that H4 visa is not causing a threat to any working Americans. If we search for a job most of the jobs are available for American citizens H4 visa people are not eligible to apply for that work. There are some consulting firms where we can apply for jobs if they absorb H4 people only if they can't find eligible citizen then how come we are causing a threat to them or we another way is to start our own business. Not all H4 people are IT people there are other firms too. So either way, we are no threat to the citizen. Most of them are highly qualified and talented individuals who are spouses of another highly qualified individual contributing to the US economy positively trading their energy, paying high taxes and talent working on US land. The money from these individuals gets utilized for the welfare of US citizens. They are legal individuals looking to immigrate along with their spouses who cannot work under H4. Poor H4 people are like birds in a golden cage. They fought for EAD for a long period and finally succeeded under the leadership of a great president 'Barack Obama'. These are small section of individuals and certainly not a threat to the people of USA. Just because president is changed you cannot reverse the rules. This is unfair for a country like USA. This is not a child's game to go back and forth of the rules made by a president. This section of individuals are highly respectable and hard working. Look around, hospitality, retails, airports, restuarants where Americans were working 10-15 years ago is now filled with people from all other countries (legal + illegal). Drive in a Uber in Maryland, Washington DC you can those from African countries who are working plus studying to get into IT and other jobs as consultants. Indians or H1-Bs are targeted for no reason and by they way they do not do these kind of jobs. I support H4 EAD. Fake resumes can be created in all Visa categories. Not just H4 EAD. There are so many H4 EAD holders who are in high profile jobs in very good organizations. Totally banning H4 EAD would put their dreams and careers at dead end. The only way to "Save jobs USA" is to meticulously scan the illegal or unqualified applications before the approval and reject them. Taking away all H4 EAD's after it is granted would cause chaos. I am a H4 EAD candidate myself and I was a top scorer in my university during my masters in the US. I had several friends who are H4 EAD's and highly knowledgeable too. We have paid the tuition fee in the US, worked long hours for 2 years during our masters, were challenged like everyone else in the interviews and have landed in good jobs. We didn't achieve this with any reservations. I have worked really hard in my home country before my marriage. After getting married., I have left my home country and came all the way to America leaving my really bright career for my husband. I was never dependent on anyone and never idle without working. It was literal hell for me to sit idle at home doing nothing after I came to America on H4 visa. Then came a light of H4-EAD program. When other programs like spouses of L1(L2visa) and other EAD programs are not making any disturbance to American workers why poor H4 EADs are a problem? I never took away anyone's job. I have my own experience and with my own hardwork I got a job and I am more confident right now. At this point of time., taking off H4 EAD from my hands is like taking off my life. There are many of my friends in the same position like me. Imagining this itself is like a nightmare. I would literally get into depression imagining of this. Unless one has filed a I-485 and its in Pending status, they cannot claim, they are GC holders (leave alone citizens) in waiting, this is quite hilarious. H4, L2, J2 EAD should be banned immediately. The buddy / same caste member from back home hires the "exceptional ability L2" for a nominal fee back in India. H4-EAD and L2 EAD program is not required. This is being used by one and all, employers, companies and spouses. These two programs are being abused by the un-qualified spouses, who claim they are software engineers and secure jobs and infact most of them dont know, the software fundamentals. Such is that state, that body shop companies, recruiting agencies, the big service IT companies and companies with big IT departments are all part of it. If the spouses are truly talented, then they can get visa via the H1-B program or if they are so talented they can sign-up and get Ph.D from American University, then they will get GC within in 3-6 months. This is like the "cutting" the line, when similarly talented people have been waiting and toiling in the queue and stuck on H1-B program for many years and suddenly, some unknown, unqualified person gets EAD via this H4EAD and gets employed. This is not fair. The H1-B program can be expanded to accommodate the interest/demand in H4 or other EAD programs. Everyone should be treated fair and just.
